Sitka Seafood sought to migrate from a highly customized headless (Shopify) architecture into a streamlined Shopify Plus headed storefront built for agility and long-term scalability. By leaning into native Shopify and Recharge functionality, the new experience reduced reliance on custom code while simplifying operations across subscriptions, bundles, and gifting. Leveraging the iamota Theme Foundation, we modernized key UX flows, templates, and content structures to create a more intuitive and shoppable customer experience.
The migration to Recharge simplified and modernized Sitka Seafood’s subscription experience while preserving critical subscription workflows and customer continuity. Product architecture was redesigned across curated bundles, build-a-box subscriptions, gifts, prepaid programs, and sustainer credits to better align with native Shopify and Recharge functionality. The result was a more streamlined customer experience and a scalable subscription foundation built to support future growth and experimentation.

A highly collaborative working approach across Sitka Seafood, Recharge, and iamota teams ensured alignment from strategy through execution. Mission-critical launch functionality was prioritized while non-essential complexity was intentionally refactored, with parallel workstreams spanning UX, migration, subscriptions, integrations, and content to accelerate delivery. The result was a scalable commerce foundation built to support ongoing optimization, testing, and iteration post-launch.
